Women Build

Hello All!

The mud is now dry and we have started to prime the interior walls.  Primer does not take long to dry.  Probably about the same amount of time for a coat of nail polish to dry!  So, we can start painting the same day the primer is put on.  As soon as the paint is dry we can nail in the trim, hang kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and install vinyl flooring.  Professional carpet layers will install and stretch the carpet.

Let’s try to finish the house so Mustafa and Leila’s children can go to school from their new home!  We gave ourselves a deadline of August 15–right?  Can we do it? Yes we can!

Lunches will be served on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer for the Women’s Build house.

Next is the Fall Framing Frenzy!  Click on the Volunteer FAQ tab above and inquire about the Builder’s Blitz or Fall Framing Frenzy (coming soon) if you’re interested in learning more about either event.

It’s Habitat’s 25 year anniversary and we’ve set a goal to get 100% donation for all the materials for the houses.  Please ask anyone you may know, including a business, who may be interested in donating to a non-for-profit.  All donations, monetary, time or materials, are tax-deductible!

Any Woman age 16-106 who would like to volunteer in any capacity with Women’s Build (donate meals, time, friends, etc.) please email Roberta Gunning at rolugun@msn.com.  You may call her at 402-332-4137.  Our build site is located at 25th & Binney Sts. (North of Lake St. and South of Ames Ave., off  N. 24th St).  Hope to see you out there on the jobsite!

Hey, Linda. This was easier than I thought it would be. How about including hours of our work day in the info? And I thought we’d start the pre-build on Thursday, the 21, not Wednesday. Guess we can talk about it at the meeting Tuesday.

    Hello Women of Omaha!
I am Norm. Many of you might have worked with me in the past few years. Glad to see you checking out our web page. This year Ro, Patty and I are taking charge of the Womens Build home. We will work under the leadership of Kris Minkler to build this huge 5 bedroom home, with a garage!
My hope and prayer is that many of you will come out this year to give a day or half day to help in building this house. We have much to accomplish and will need many hands, both experienced and new. In return we will give you much work, much fun and a feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day.
I hope to see you soon.
    Thanks,
    Norm
